Our Projects

Building a Greener, More Peaceful Future

  • Ending the Climate Crisis

    Our climate is in crisis.

The science is clear. We have less than a decade to take bold, ambitious action to transition our economy off fossil fuels and onto safe and green renewable energy. Shifting to cleaner, locally-run energy will not only slow the tide of climate catastrophe, it’ll create millions of new jobs that sustain families while protecting community health.

The devastating impacts of climate change are clear, but that’s nothing compared to what we’re leaving future generations if these trends continue. It’s time to put people above the polluters and truly act on climate.

  • Protecting Our Oceans

Healthy oceans are the life support system for our planet, but, our oceans are in more trouble than ever before.

Right now it is estimated that up to 12 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans each year. Destructive fishing practices have caused the populations of the ocean’s top predators to drop by as much as 90 percent over the past 50 years. Mining companies are working to launch destructive projects to extract minerals with techniques likely to decimate fragile biodiversity and ecosystems.

If we don’t change the way we do things we are on track to cause irreversible damage to the ocean and the collapse of some of the most important food sources in the world.

  • Safeguarding Our Forests

Forests are crucial for the health and well-being of people, wildlife and our planet. They’re home to roughly two-thirds of all land-dwelling plant and animal species, critical lifelines for communities big and small, and one of the last lines of defense against catastrophic climate change.

We are fighting to protect forests around the globe from destruction—and set them on a path to restoration. Working together with Indigenous Peoples, allies and supporters like you, we’re calling out the industries and companies destroying our forests, and the governments who have failed to protect them.

From the Amazon to Canada to Indonesia, half of our global forests have already been lost to unsustainable industrial practices. The need to protect remaining forests is more urgent than ever.

  • Defending Democracy

Democracy is the best tool we have to protect the environment.

Communities across the U.S. are dealing with the devastating impacts of climate change and it should be easy to pass laws that cut carbon pollution, propel renewable energy, and support vulnerable communities. But corporate influence in American politics is getting in the way of progress. These corporations are getting what they want because they’re working together. The question is, can we?

We urgently need a people-powered democracy, unleashing the power of our volunteers and supporters to build a better future together. This is how we can create a democracy that is truly of, by, and for the people.

There are many ways to give.

Find the way that’s best for you.
