What is My Fundraising Commitment?
Each runner commits to raising a minimum of $2,500 for Greenpeace if you require a bib – and we will provide you with a fundraising package and individual fundraising page online. Greenpeace will also feature runners on our website and in social media to help you meet this goal.
If you already have a bib, we ask that you raise a minimum of $1,000.
Do I need to pay anything now?
If you require a bib you will be asked to pay a $200 non-refundable deposit to Greenpeace for the Big Sur International Marathon, this amount will count towards your fundraising goal.
If you already have a bib we request a $50 non-refundable deposit.
What kind of support will Greenpeace give me if I join the team?
When you join Team Greenpeace, you will be supported throughout your entire running experience. This will include fundraising tips before the event, and support on the day at our cheering points and post-race reception.
What physical preparations should I undertake?
The Big Sur International Marathon is a challenging course, and not recommended for the first time marathoner. All Team Greenpeace runners are advised to follow a good training program to ensure that they are fit enough to run a marathon. Distance running is a strenuous activity and you must ensure that you are in good health.
Due to the nature of the course, wheelchairs are strongly discouraged. If you need special accommodations, please contact the Big Sur International Marathon organizers directly at 831.625.6226.
If you have a medical condition which could be adversely affected by exercise, or if you have any doubts about your health, please seek your doctor’s advice before taking part.
When will I get my race number for the Big Sur Marathon?
At the end of February/beginning of March you will receive your official program from the race organizers. This will include full details about the Big Sur International Marathon exhibition, which you will need to attend to pick up your race number. The exhibition usually takes place in the week leading up to race day.
